Patients can vote in hospital staff awards

PATIENTS, visitors and members of the public are being asked to nominate members of staff at Warrington and Halton hospitals as part of the annual staff awards scheme – the “Thank You” awards.
The awards are about sharing best practice across the two hospitals – and giving the public a chance to say thank you to staff.
They were launched five years ago to help recognise some of the work that goes on in the two hospitals every day.
Local people access more than 500,000 appointments, operations and procedures each year provided by the hospitals’ 4,000 staff.
Last year’s winners included nurses, doctors and entire wards and department teams at both hospitals – as well as some of the unsung heroes behind the scenes including domestic and supplies staff.
Nominations are now open for this year’s awards
Judging panels, including the hospitals’ elected public governors will study the nominations that come in and the top three nominees in each category will go forward to a staff awards event in June when the winners will be announced.
Mel Pickup, chief executive at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “We want to give patients and visitors the chance to nominate staff, teams or even entire services that have made a special difference to them and their families.
“All they need to do is tell us a bit about why the staff they want to nominate deserve an extra special thank you. Last year there were some incredibly moving stories of care, compassion and support which show the pride that local patients have in their health service.”
All people need to do is to write a bit of information on why the staff or teams they wish to nominate should win an award.
Nominations can be submitted using a simple on-line form on the trust’s website at www.warringtonandhaltonhospitals.nhs.uk/awards-nominate.asp
Alternatively, then can be emailed to [email protected] or posted to: Membership Office, Warrington Hospital, WA5 1QG.
People making nominations must state their name, contact details, the name of the staff member or team they wish to nominate and why they think they should win.
Closing date for all nominations is May 14.
