Government failing us says MP

THE Government is failing the people of Warrington when it comes to creating jobs, according to MP Helen Jones.
Local people are suffering because of a “north/south” divide, she says.
Figures based on Job Seekers Allowance claimants show that unemployment is rising, with long term unemployment in Warrington up 43 per cent on a year ago, the Warrington North MP says.
Yet in Stratford-upon-Avon just 80 people are out of work – down 24 per cent on last year.
In Richmond Park, in West London, just five young people are jobless – the same as last year.
Ms Jones said: “These figures clearly tell us that getting local people into work should be a priority and that we need more jobs. This is why Labour is calling for a compulsory jobs guarantee, which will get any adult out of work for more than two years, or young person out of work for a year, into a job.
“It’s clear who the Tories and LibDems are targeting to pay for the government’s failed fiscal policies.
“With tax credits, maternity pay and further council expenditure cut, hard working people are starting to feel the squeeze. With the introduction of ‘Bedroom Tax’ and cuts in council tax benefit, it is clear the people who need help the most are paying the price for the Tory/LibDem failed economics.
“Yet just to add insult to injury this Government is slashing tax credits and child benefit but giving millionaires a tax cut.
“Families are £891 worse off because of tax and benefit changes and pay packets are now a whopping £1,700 smaller than at the last election. People have to work almost an extra month and a half to make what they did in 2010. Working people feel they’re going backwards because they are going backwards.
“People in Warrington North can’t wait any longer for action. Ministers must get off their hands and start helping now before they condemn a whole generation to joblessness.”

  1. This M.P. this Labour M.P. talks about cuts lets not forget that it was the last government that brought the pay freeze in for local government workers that has been continued under this tory government . It was chancellor Gordon Brown that rifled the pension pots. Do readers remember him saying ‘no more boom no more bust, the economy is in safe hands’ as well as promising a referendom on europe.

Mrs Jones you wonder why the electorate don’t beleive a word polititions say just cast your mind back if you want i’ll remind you of a few home truths including going to war with Iraq
