Basketball boys reach last 16

WARRINGTON’S Boteler High School boys’ basketball team reached the last 16 of the U16 national schools’ competition – at only the second attempt.
Botelery entered the competition for the first time last year, coming second in their Pool and beating three Liverpool teams along the way.
Buoyed by this success and consistent performances against local opposition, the team entered again this year and won the North West 1 Pool and going on to the regional round in which they defeated Derby High School, winners of the Manchester Schools’ competition in a close 51-50 result.
This took the team into the last 16 nationally.
An injury-hit team took on Montgomery High School, of Blackpool, and went down valiantly 62-39.
A school spokesperson said: “Exposure to high quality opposition can only force up our standards even further and with most of the team available to play next year, hopes of future success are high.”
