MP denied a debate

WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones claims she was denied a debate in Parliament when she raised her concerns about Warrington Hospital cutting posts while the Department of Health is paying money back to the Treasury.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Ms Jones said: “North Cheshire hospitals are set to lose hundreds of posts, yet the Department of Health is paying £2.2 billion back to the Treasury and is spending millions on a totally unnecessary re-organisation.
“May we therefore have a debate on the competence of the Department of Health, which is hitting front-line services while not spending its full budget?”
The Leader of the House of Commons, and former Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley, did not grant her request.
Afterwards Ms Jones said: “It is outrageous that front-line staff may face losing their jobs while money goes unspent in the Department of Health.
“It is clear that David Cameron’s promise, at the last General Election, not to cut the NHS was not worth the posters it was printed on.”
