Golden Gates scoop award

STAFF from Golden Gates Housing Trust’s Finance and Admin and IT teams are celebrating after scooping a major national award.
The award, presented by Payroll and Benefits Magazine, comes after the trust’s success in becoming the first organisation to submit live PAYE payment information data under HMRC’s Real Time Information (RTI) programme in August 2012.
GGHT Finance and Admin Officer, Sarah Moorcroft, said: “It is a great honour to pick this award up on behalf of the Trust.
“The RTI programme is the first change in 80 years to payroll submission and being the first organisation to submit live information was both exciting and a little daunting. However after some initial teething problems the process went really well and the data cleanse and system updates required for RTI have made our payroll processes more efficient and helped prepare us for auto enrolment and the pension reforms.”
Under RTI, employers and pension providers notify HMRC about PAYE payments at the time they are made, rather than just at the end of the year. RTI will support the operation of Universal Credit, the government’s welfare programme that brings together means-tested in and out of work benefits, tax credits and support for housing.
