AN organisation that runs an innovative art gallery in Warrington has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Python Arts – the organisation behind The Gallery at Bank Quay House – has been shortlisted for this year’s Arts and Business Awards, in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover.
The Warrington gallery was established three years ago and regularly displays work from up and coming artists, including Contemporary Arts Festival 2011 winners Tracey Hill and Sabine Kussmaul.
They also play a big part in the annual Contemporary Arts Festival, organised by Culture Warrington.
Python Arts – an offshoot of Python Properties – also has art galleries in Bolton and on Teesside.
They offer new creative opportunities for regional artists and residents alike and get communities participating as audiences and consumers of arts activities.
This has been achieved together by offering an innovative programme that reaches all sectors of the community and has something that everyone can identify with.
Emma Kelly, head curator at Python Arts, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive a nomination in the Arts and Business Awards. Dedicated to celebrating the work of local and regional artists, we aim to engage the community in creative arts expression in our approachable, inspiring and relaxing galleries.”
