UKIP takes on Labour

THE UK Independence Party is to take on Labour in a by-election for a vacant seat on Birchwood Town Council.
Voters will go to the polls on Thursday, May 2.
Labour candidate is Jill Bolton while Geoff Siddall is to represent UKIP
Anyone who thinks they may be unable to get to a polling station for the election, and have not already done so, can apply for a postal or proxy vote. The closing date for a postal vote and registration is Wednesday April 17.
Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on May 2.

  1. Haw do you serve on a local town council in a way that reflects the xenophobia of a party like UKIP – how do you make its anti-EU and anti-immigration policy relevant. Do you set up passport controls on the entrance to the council area – not likely. Do you refuse to have foreign made biscuits at your meetings – doing the same fro tea and coffee may be tricky. Do you refuse to deal with any businesses or organisations that employ foreigners – legally dubious at best. Perhaps you refuse to allow any grants or other funding tainted by the EU to be spent in the area, cutting off your nose to spite your face.
