Historic boat to visit Lymm

AN historic boat built more than 100 years ago is set to visit Lymm as part of the annual village festival on June 19.
The Castlefield, thought to be originally named Prussia or Siberia, is believed to have visited Lymm during its working life carrying goods around the North West. It has been lovingly restored and now carries passengers.
It will arrive in Lymm on June 19 ready to offer trips to children as part of a two-day Schools’ Canal Heritage Programme taking place as part of Lymm Festival.
The boat will also be offering short taster trips during the Foodfest on Thursday 20. On Friday 21 and Saturday 22, there will be half-day cruises – one to Dunham and the other to Walton – with afternoon tea laid on.
Then the boat becomes part of Lymm Historic Transport Day on June 23.
Event organiser Alan Williams said: “It is terrific to see the owners of this beautiful boat making such a wholehearted commitment to our local festival and great that we have been able to bring the canal into the festival in so many ways this year.”
