Take a bow Barbara Worrall

WARRINGTON resident Barbara Worrall will fold down the directors chair next week after 50 years of appearing in or directing musicals.
Barbara, (pictured left) from Appleton, graduated as a mature student from Manchester University in 1993 having studied Drama and Arts & Entertainment.
Next week (April 9-13) sees Barbara back in the directors chair for the final time as The Zodiac Amateur Operatic Society perform The Noel Gray and Multi Award winning Me and My Girl at the Brindley Theatre Runcorn.
Barbara’s relationship with The Zodiac started many years ago.
In 2007 she was delighted to be asked by them to direct Oklahoma! This was their first production at the Brindley Theatre in Runcorn.
The following year she suggested that they perform Hot Mikado, Gilbert & Sullivan with a twist. This proved to be an exciting production for the Zodiacs especially when they received a NODA nomination for’ Best Musical’ in 2008.
Barbara is pleased once again to be working with a strong production team for Me and My Girl, as this Musical challenges all areas of production and performance, but Barbara proudly states “it will be another show stopper for the Zodiac”
The whimsical story line transports us back to 1930s Hareford, a quintessentially English Country Estate, where there is great excitement at the imminent arrival of the new Earl of Hareford. Sadly, to the great disappointment of the local gentry, he turns out to be a Lambeth commoner, Bill Snibson.
As the gauntlet to become a ‘true gent’ and inherit Hareford Hall is thrown down, Bill is forced to embark on a hilarious journey to prove himself. But can he and his ‘gal’ Sally also manage to teach the toffs a thing or two about life down ‘Lambeth Way?!’
With West End classics like ‘Leaning on a Lamp Post’, ’The Sun Has Got Its Hat On’ and the unforgettable feel-good wonder ‘Lambeth Walk’,
Barbara is also President of the North West Keep Fit Association and has recently choreographed their display team for the National Festival at the Milton Keynes Theatre.
She is also involved in the Warrington Competition for Young Musicians and also reads for the Talking Newspaper.
Performance for Barbara’s final production of “Me and My Girl” start at the Brindley at 7.30pm – Tickets on sale now from the Brindley Boxoffice tel.0151 907-8360 or by visiting www.thebrindley.org.uk
