A WARRINGTON couple are embarking on a charity bike ride at the double in aid of cancer research.
Jacob Everson is riding in memory of his grandparents while his partner Rachel Jefferson is joining him in memory of her running coach, who all died from cancer.
The couple both aged 20, from Orford, are cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End on June 3 and expecting to take two weeks to complete the trip.
Jacob said: “I’m completing the ride in memory of my grandparents who unfortunately passed away last year. My granddad died on January 10, shortly followed by my nan just 13 days later.
“It was the worst feeling ever and I just wanted to do whatever I can to help other families dealing with cancer. Rachel felt the same after her running coach passed away in December. She is an international fell runner and lost her coach to cancer.”
Further details about the ride and the people the couple are doing it in memory of can be found at www.justgiving.com/jakeandrach
Jacob, who is a student, has two part-time jobs and volunteers at a youth sports club. He said that funding the ride is hard so he is hoping for help with this. Rachel is also a student, has a part time job and volunteers at the youth sports club.
They are hoping local businesses will help with funding. All money raised by the ride will go to cancer research.
He said: “We just really need help with different aspects of the ride, as we really don’t want to have to call this off.”
