Snow warning for drivers

DRIVING snow hit Warrington this morning – just in time for the peak rush hour traffic.
While it posed few problems early on, police issued a warning to drivers to take extra care.
A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: “Snow has created dangerous and slippy road conditions in many areas, particularly Macclesfield, Congleton and the Cat and Fiddle.
“In West Cheshire roads are particularly affected in the Kelsall Hill and A51 areas.
“The motorway network is passable with care but delays are to be expected.”
Police advised motorist to check the Highways Authority website for updates.
They are urged drivers to only make journeys that are absolutely necessary, ensure cars were fully defrosted with full visibility. And to maintain a safe and constant speed, avoiding sudden braking that can cause skidding.
