Red noses give charity a lift

WARRINGTON’S Village Café – the charity that gives people a second chance by offering them work and training – is due to close at the end of the month.
But that didn’t stop staff and volunteers at the Latchford café from putting on a special show for Red Nose Day.
And on April 1, the café is to re-launch as a social enterprise café.
Spokeswoman Jane Key said: We support and become friends with vulnerable people.
“We give them confidence, purpose and skills.
“We train them and they volunteer in our café. Some then go on to find jobs with our help and with new skills and qualifications.
“But the charity has not been making enough money so is due to close on March 28.
“However, we are aiming to re-launch, re-invent ourselves and be bigger and better, re-opening on April 1 as a social enterprise.”
Red Nose gave the café a chance to have some fun, meet new people and raise money.
More than £210 was raised, half to go to Comic Relief and half to the Village Café charity.
In addition to good food, there were games and gifts for children and a free raffle.
Next month the café will re-open with a special opening ceremony.
