Promoting town's best-kept secrets

CULTURAL, charitable, community and arts organisations in Warrington are being given a new opportunity to promote themselves.
The borough council’s public transport team has recently signed an agreement with Warrington and District Arts Council (WADAC) which will allow them to use hoardings at the bus interchange in the town centre to publicise forthcoming art events.
WADAC have commissioned local artist Richard Cowley to produce a mural for the first of the hoardings and this is expected to be in place soon.
Arts Council chairman Margaret Tye said: “This mural in the interchange will be an eye-catching addition to the artistic assets of what is becoming one of the most go-ahead towns in the North West.
“We are grateful to Cllr Mike Hannon for his help in expediting the idea and Cllr Linda Dirir who has been at the heart of the project. Special thanks are also due to Warrington Borough Council managers David Boyer and Alyn Jones who went out of their way to be of assistance.”
Dr Michael Murphy, secretary of WADAC said: “Warrington is a town of best kept secrets. There is so much talent in this town and so many cultural and not-for-profit groups putting on events.”
