NEARLY 200 affordable homes will be built at Warrington if two planning applications are given the go-ahead this week.
Countryside Properties and the Young Housing group have put forward proposals for 108 homes on land off Marsh House Lane and Mulberry Homes have applied for 78 properties on the site of the former George Howard scrapyard in Folly Lane.
Both schemes are being recommended for approval by planning officers.
The Marsh House Lane plan involves 31 apartments for the elderly in a four storey block and 77 two and three bedroomed dwellings.
One objection has been received from one person who believes residential development could prevent expansion of a nearby coach depot, which provides local employment
The Folly Lane scheme involved 78 affordable homes and the demolition of one existing dwelling
This scheme has also received one objection from a resident who says houses built in the area recently could not be sold to local people and were in the end sold to social landlords who filled the properties with tenants who brought anti-social behaviour and drugs to the area.
