HOSPICE volunteer Jim Eccles has pledged to give up a night’s sleep and volunteer round the clock to help marshal the 2013 St Rocco’s Starlight “Party in the Park” Walk, which takes place at Orford Park on June 21.

Now renowned throughout the area as a great ladies night out the event is also a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for ‘Warrington’s Favourite Charity.’
The route starts and finishes at Orford Jubilee Park and walkers can choose to walk a 6.5 or 13 mile circuit of a well-marshalled route through Warrington Town Centre, Latchford, Padgate and Orford. Places are limited and are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Jim, from Penketh, has been marshalling the Starlight Walk since it began in 2006. He enjoyed that first night so much that he has marshalled for the hospice ever since.
“There’s a reason why so many of the marshals volunteer year after year” said Jim. “I believe it’s because the Starlight Walk is such a fantastic night. Every year the walkers thank us marshals and tell us how much they have enjoyed the walk. The atmosphere is brilliant.”
Alison White, Matron at St Rocco’s Hospice, saw the Starlight Walk for the first time last year.
She said: “It was such a privilege to be part of this wonderful event and to see so many ladies showing their support for St Rocco’s. The hospice cares for hundreds of families living with life threatening conditions each year and needs to raise nearly £3 million each year just to keep running, so all the ladies are doing a tremendous job in raising so much for us.”
Places for the Starlight Walk are limited so if you would like to be part of this fabulous night please visit www.starlightladieswalk.co.uk to sign up online, or pick up a form from the Hospice in Bewsey.
