SWIMMERS have the chance to get fit and help Warrington Disability Partnership (WDP) by taking part in a sponsored swim while the charity’s founder Dave Thompson is also taking the plunge again for the third consecutive year.
People are invited to dive in and join WDP’s sponsored swim event on Saturday March 2 at Orford Jubilee Park from 4pm to 8pm,while Dave will and others will be taking part in a sponsored scuba dive at Great Sankey Leisure Centre on April 27.
During the sponsored swim participants will be challenged to swim a maximum total of 64 lengths of the swimming pool. People can also complete shorter lengths and children are invited to join in.
Those wishing to swim at a slower pace can do so in the training pool.
This will be followed by Dave’s sponsored scuba dive which is being supported by Sport Diver and Cheshire Scuba.
For the past two years, Dave, who broke his neck 20 years ago playing American football, which has left him with the use of just one arm, has raised thousands of pounds by swimming a mile under water.
Anyone interested in supporting either event should contact WDP fundraising team on 01925 240064.
