Project offers personal travel plans

AN exciting new project offering residents in North Warrington personalised travel plans has been launched.
Residents who live on the route of the new Connect 17 bus service will be the first area targeted for the project, launched by the Travel Warrington Team.
The project will help residents save money, get fit and healthy, and help the environment by reducing car use.
Advisors will be on hand to help individuals or families create a free personalised travel plan, looking at where costs can be cut and what other forms of transport are available.
From Friday January 11 to Friday February 2, the team will be visiting households on the route to offer support and the chance to sign up or register interest in a plan.
The areas on the Connect 17 bus route include Chapelford, Whittle Hall, Longford, Birchwood and Oakwood.
When residents sign up to the plan, individual travel packs including a journey plan, travel guides, timetables and more, will be sent out next month to kick-start efforts in making regular sustainable journeys.
After this first phase, another two phases will be rolled out later this year and in 2014, targeting other areas of North Warrington.
The project is supported by main bus operators in the town, Network Warrington and Arriva, and by local cycle retailer Cycle House.
By signing up to the plan residents will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 Golden Square vouchers and there will be opportunities to win more great prizes along the way for taking part.
Anyone living on the route who would like to register interest should contact the travel team on 0800 652 8646 or email [email protected]

  1. What next another council sponsored diet and how to cook plan? Thought we had been warned there was need for cut back on council spending? Don’t they think people are intelligent enough to work out the best and cheapest way to get to work?
