RESIDENTS of the Latchford area of Warrington have been thanked for their “patience and understanding” during the recent gas emergency in the Victoria Park area.
Cllr Maureen McLaughlin (pictured) asked leader of the council Terry O’Neill to join her in thanking the National Grid, council officers, police and Golden Gates Housing Trust for their rapid and well-coordinated response to the situation, along with the residents for their response.
Cllr McLaughlin told a meeting of the council: “Residents were greatly inconvenienced but responded with patience and understanding, which was greatly appreciated by all involved.
“The various agencies worked very well together and ensured that the most vulnerable people affected by the emergency were specifically contacted and given the necessary help and support.
“I am pleased that the community responded so well to this situation and wanted the council to show its appreciation.”
Cllr O’Neill said the council had robust emergency plans and procedures in place and that these had worked well.
“I am pleased to join Cllr McLaughlin in thanking the residents for their understanding whilst this emergency situation was resolved. I would also like to thank the council officers involved for their professionalism in leading our response.
“Our emergency plans worked effectively and helped to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”
