THE 27th annual Dickensian Christmas Festival takes place tomorrow (Saturday) – with even greater emphasis this year on free entertainment for young children.
Organised by parish councillor and Town Crier Peter Powell and a team of volunteers, the event will start at 11am and reach a climax with a grand parade through the village, starting at 1.30pm from the Lymm Hotel.
There will be bands, horse drawn carriages, vintage cars, clowns, dancers, schools and community groups taking part – as well as Father Christmas!
Many local roads will be closed to traffic while the event goes on.
The Dickensian Festival is now one of Lymm’s biggest events of the year and attracts visitors from a wide area.
Around 50 local businesses and other organisations take part in the event and most shopkeepers and their staff will be dressed in Victorian costume throughout the day.
