Road trip inspires new fashion brand

A ROAD trip along the west coast of America inspired a Warrington man to take a chance in the fashion industry.

Rob Neill, 43, from Appleton, has launched his debut collection under the brand name Lucky West.
It features a range of men’s printed and embroidered T shirts, with a vintage look and “super soft” feel.
Rob, who is married with a daughter, works full time as a sales manager in the food industry.

He launched his company after two years hard work – working at weekends and in the early hours of the morning after his day job and family responsibilities were completed.

He said: “As a fashion conscious individual, I became constantly frustrated that I was buying the brand clothes that everyone else was. Especially when you had spent time looking for a quality product to give you that great feel and distinction, only to see someone else in the same branded t shirt (you suddenly lose that great feeling don’t you).”

He set out to create an affordable high-end brand and used his skills to find out about the fashion industry. He designs all goods himself and sources high quality materials and manufacturers.

Rob said: “The idea and the name Lucky West came about, after an inspired trip down the west coast of America. I wanted to capture that vintage feel from the America of old, think back to 1950’s Vegas and all its glamour and the cool diners that were spread across the states.

“I also fell in love with the designs of the old style neon signs, which are sadly a dying art form now. I was adamant though that the clothes had to be finished off with fine detailed tailoring, and then washed to give a super soft feel.”
Initially his designs are aimed at men, but he hopes the brand will feature women’s clothing in the future.
