New Academy provides jobs hope

A NEW Logistics and Distribution Training Academy has been set up by Warrington Collegiate to give people skills in a real work environment.
It runs in partnership with Tachodisc and PepsiCo and aims to give unemployed adults and young people the chance to gain experience and qualifications.
The academy is based at Tachodisc’s manufacturing centre in Warrington and will provide training in areas such as stock control, picking and packing, load planning, route planning and dispatch.
Collegiate principal Paul Hafren said: “It builds on our existing expertise in the logistics sector and, as a vocational college, it supports our core objective of preparing young people and adults for work through practical, employment orientated training.
“It is fantastic to see that through participating on this course several of the learners will gain employment as apprentice warehouse operatives with Adecco and Pepsico and the remaining learners have made themselves far more employable.”
