Surge of interest in foster care

A CAMPAIGN and increase in payments has led to a surge in the numbers of people interested in fostering children in Warrington.
There has been a 55 per cent increase in applications from both new and experienced foster carers since the campaign and an increase in foster carer allowances in July.
A number of new applications have already been approved, and the service wants to see more people applying.
Cllr Colin Froggatt (pictured), the borough counci’sl executive member for children and young people’s services, said: “We are delighted that investment in the service and our advertising campaign has paid off and we have a renewed interest by people wanting to foster.
“With over 230 children needing homes in Warrington this is a very positive development and we are set to continue to encourage more people to come forward and carry out this vital role and help our children and young people flourish and achieve their full potential.”
The council needs foster carers from all different walks of life, ages and cultures to match the different needs of the many children currently in care.
