MOTORISTS are today being urged to avoid flooded areas of the town following three days of heaby rain which has caused severe flooding problems on some Warrington housing estates.
Deputy leader of the council Cllr Mike Hannon, (pictured) who represents the Orford area which has been badly affected by the floods, said: “I would appeal to motorists to either avoid flooded areas, or if they have to drive through estates that are flooded, then treat them with respect and drive at less than 5mph.
“Anything higher causes a tidal effect and will add to the problems of properties being flooded, so please be a thoughtful motorist.”
Meanwhile Cllr Hannon praised “great partnership working” between WBC staff, Enterprise, GGHT and the Police, who had been working around the clock in a bid to tackle the flooding problems.
