A new bus service is being launched in north Warrington from Monday, October 1, which will provide Chapelford with its first Sunday bus service.
The Network Warrington service is going ahead after a successful bid by Warrington Borough Council to the Department for Transport’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
The new route will replace the current Chapelford number 17 service and will travel from the Warrington bus interchange to Chapelford, then via Gemini Retail Park, Orford Park Jubilee Hub, Orford, Birchwood Park and Gorse Covert. In peak periods the service will go to the Lingley Mere Business Park as number 17a.
It will serve the new Chapelford Sainsbury’s store and will be the first time Chapelford has a Sunday bus service.
Cllr Linda Dirir, executive board member for highways, transportation and climate change, said: “We were thrilled to be successful in our bid for funding and we believe this new bus service will make a real difference to the town. It will connect local people to business parks and job opportunities and we are very pleased to be working with Network Warrington to make it happen.”
David Squire, (pictured right) Managing Director of Network Warrington, said: “We are delighted to be working alongside a number of private sector partners and the council to make this new service a reality, the service will provide a number of important links across an orbital corridor, bringing together the Business Parks, the new leisure facilities at Orford Park, retail centres with the residential areas of Chapelford, Callands, Orford, Birchwood & Gorse Covert.”
