BUDDING poets in Warrington are being invited to write a poem about the town for the chance to win £1,000 in a competition.
The annual competition is open to everyone and people have to write a poem about life in their home town or area.
Poems should be sent to Local Poem, United Press Ltd, Admail 3735, London, EC1B 1JB or visit the website www.unitedpress.co.uk or call 0844 800 9177.
The best poem will win £1,000 cash and people can send up to three entries, which must be no more than 25 lines and 160 words each.
A competition spokesperson said: “The competition is designed to encourage more people to get involved in writing poetry. Your entry can be about something or someone from your home area.
“We find that poems written from personal observation and experience are the most heartfelt and expressive, so we’re expecting some great entries from Warrington.”
The closing date is December 31.
