Wizards can still win Grand Final

WARRINGTON Wizards can still win the Conference Three Grand Final according to winger Craig Middlemore who is set to return from injury.
Middlemore hopes to return from injury in Wizards’ play off match at home to Bramley Buffaloes on Saturday and is confident his side can still take home silverware, despite seeing his side slip down to fourth in the league after four losses in five matches.
But after a start of the season which saw the team go onto win seven of their eight matches, Middlemore is confident the Wizards can replicate that form in the play offs.
He said: “It depends on how much we want it now. There is nothing stopping us apart from our determination and how much we want it. If we want it as much as we say we do, then there is nothing stopping us.
“Look at us at the start of the season, we were hardly getting beat at all. It’s only the last few matches where we’ve slipped up, and we haven’t been getting battered in them. It is the play offs now, and who knows what can happen.”
Middlemore could make his comeback from injury against Bramley, and says the experience of sitting on the sidelines has been more frustrating knowing there was nothing he could do to help his team mates.
He said: “It’s hard stood on the sideline watching your mates, you can’t train and there’s only so much you can do. It is also the worst injury I’ve had and the longest I’ve been out for.”
However the player’s spirits have been raised on the cusp of returning to the wing, and Middlemore is eager to get back to contributing to the team on the field with a win in the play offs.
He said: “We’ve had a bad end to the year but we still finished fourth. We have a good chance of a win at the weekend against Bramley, and play off rugby is totally different.
“Whatever has happened in the league has happened, its knockout time now and it is a fresh start as far as me and the lads are concerned.”
Warrington Wizards host Bramley Buffaloes on Saturday, September 8 at Wilderspool Stadium. Kick off is 4.30pm. Entry is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions. Students are required to bring a valid student card with them on the day of the game.
