New role for charity chief

AFTER nearly nine years leading the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, Chief Executive Clare White is moving on to take up a new role as Director of Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
Clare (pictured) joined the Foundation in January 2004 with the remit to develop the charity on a national and international platform.
The Foundation was set up by Wendy and Colin Parry following the tragic loss of their twelve year old son Tim in the Warrington bomb in 1993. The charity supports others affected by political violence, conflict and acts of terror. It works with people of all ages, race, faiths and nations with the aim of turning painful experiences into positive action. This includes former combatants and those bereaved, injured and witness to terrorist acts and conflict anywhere in the world.
Under Clare’s leadership the Foundation has worked with over 25,000 people, expanded its geographical reach nationally and internationally and is networked through 36 organisations in 8 countries in Europe. The Foundation acts as advisor to both U.K and European Government on the aftercare of victims of terrorism and the prevention of violent radicalisation of young people.
Clare will be leaving the Foundation at the end of September to take up her new position.
Clare said: “I have had the good fortune to work with some of the most dedicated, experienced and inspiring people during my time at the Foundation. The staff team here is exceptional and I have been very lucky to work with them for such a long time. It has been a real team effort to build the charity to what it is today. Those participants who I’ve had the pleasure of meeting have been an inspiration; people who have overcome real trauma and hardship and still managed to give something back to their communities, it is truly humbling. I wish the Trustees, staff team and all who are involved with the Foundation all the best for the future. I’m looking forward to my new challenge at Alder Hey, another fantastic organisation.”
Chair, Colin Parry, said: “We will really miss Clare. She has not just substantially developed the Foundation but has engaged with, and created, links with a number of national and international organisations who share our commitment to support victims of political violence and promote peace and reconciliation. They will also miss Clare’s creativity and energy. We wish Clare well in her new role.”
