Luncheon club not under threat

A popular luncheon club for pensioners in Culcheth and Glazebury is not under threat of closure.
Local Cllr Chris Vobe has reassured residents of Culcheth and Glazebury that the pensioners’ luncheon club, held at the Culcheth Day Centre on Jackson Avenue, is not under threat.
He has moved to quash rumours that following the recent closure of Dallam Day Centre that services at Culcheth would also face the axe.
Cllr Vobe has obtained a written assurance from the council that the facilities will be retained and there is no prospect of closure or reduction.
He said: “Residents who have contacted me are rightly concerned at the rumours of the pensioner’s luncheon club being withdrawn from Culcheth Day Centre. I am delighted that my colleague Pat Wright, Executive Member for Adult Services, and I are able to give this reassurance.
“Despite the cuts being heaped upon the council by Westminster, Labour has made certain that there is no threat to this valuable and well-used service, which affords many pensioners the opportunity to socialise and engage with others. The luncheon club will not face the axe on our watch and continues to go from strength to strength.”
