Creamfields washed out!

THE popular Creamfields music festival at Daresbury near Warrington

has been washed out and cancelled due to torrential rain during the night – with

ticket holders for today’s event being told not to turn up.
Significant and heavy flooding has badly affected the main music arena.
A posting on the official facebook site says: “Due to adverse weather conditions overnight anyone with a ticket for today’s event should not come to site. The site is currently closed and access will not be granted.
Further updates will follow.”
The event was a 55,000 sell out.
No serious casualties have been reported and Cheshire Police and partner agencies are supporting event organisers in ensuring the safety and welfare of festival goers during this time. Police are patrolling the arena and campsite areas to help direct festival goers to useable exits and drier ground.
Festival goers should begin making suitable arrangements to leave the site. Additional public transport is being made available.
Further updates will be made available throughout the day in respect of suitable exit routes for those leaving the site and also for those travelling to the site to collect friends or family.
The official Creamfields website appeared to crash as music fans attempted to find out the latest updates.
It later reported:”It is with regret that today’s event at Creamfields has been cancelled due to significant rainfall overnight and on site flooding.
“Every effort has been made to continue with the event and following an evaluation of the site the decision has been made by the promoters, Cheshire Police and multi agencies on site to close today’s final day in the interest of Health and Safety.
“The heavy downpour overnight has created issues across the site leaving many areas unusable. It is our primary concern at this time that assistance is given to those on site and ensure those campers exit safely.”

  1. We’ve not heard a sound from Creamfields over the weekend and as much as I’m not really into it being on around here I do genuinely feel really sorry for all the people who have gone and are now having to leave and all those who will have travelled down for today only to find it’s been cancelled. How will the many many 1000’s of people get home and I wonder if they will get refunds on their tickets. Blummin’ british weather !!!

  2. I agree, Dizzy. The wind direction was different this year, i believe it could be heard over in Appleton Thorn, so we all escaped it on our side! I hope they do get refunds and maybe it will make organisers think twice about having the festival and all the parking/camping areas on grass. I dread to think how long it will take the ground to recover for any farming use. Solid surfaces or much higher ground would seem to be a better long term option if this weather is likely to be repeated in future years.
