POLICE at Warrington are appealing for information following a number of incidents in the Padgate area.
Over the past four weeks five incidents have been reported to police around the Padgate Lane, Bruche Avenue and Bruche Park area.
On each occasion the victim – each time a lone female – has been approached by an unknown man who has attempted to engage them in inappropriate conversation.
In one incident – at around 3am on July 22 – a 27-year-old woman, was walking home from the town centre on Padgate Lane when she noticed a man behind her.
As she turned up a driveway to a house the man stopped and spoke to her before assaulting her.
The victim screamed and the offender fled the scene running in the direction of a nearby Co-Op. The woman was not injured as a result of the incident.
Police believe the incidents are linked and are appealing for information from the public.
On each occasion the man is described as aged between 20-30, of medium build, around 5ft 6 inches tall and with short hair, which is possibly brown/ginger in colour.
DC Tracy Earley said: “Police are continuing to carry out a number of enquiries in relation to these incidents – including house-to-house enquiries and CCTV enquiries.
“We are appealing for anyone who has any information, which may assist officers with their enquiries, to get in touch. Even the smallest amount of information is useful when piecing together a case.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who has any information regarding the identity of the man.”
Patrols have been stepped up in the area to reassure the local community.
DC Earley added: “We are advising members of the public, particularly lone females, to be vigilant when walking alone and to report any suspicious activity to police immediately.”
Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 and ask for DC Earley.
Information can also be passed on anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
