New community hub to open

A new Community Hub at Orford will officially open its doors to the public on Saturday, August 18.
To celebrate the opening of this brand new Community Hub there will be a range of activities for all the family from 11am-3pm, including community stalls, a drum workshop, a karate demonstration and a car boot sale. Arts and crafts activities such as decorate your own t-shirt, jewellery making, badge making and pot a plant will also be on site for people to enjoy.
Ward councillor Mike Hannon, and Ellen Wheatley from Mid Orford Residents Association will be officially opening the hub, on Festival Avenue, at 1pm, and Wolfie, the
Warrington Wolves mascot, will be there on the day to keep the crowds entertained.
The Community Hub will provide a wide range of facilities for residents including a Community Café, Mums and Tots groups, coffee drop-in sessions, Residents Association, Central Neighbourhoods Team, Mid Orford Residents Association, Neighbourhood Wardens, karate classes, adult college classes and much, much more!
Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, (Lab –Orford), said: “It’s fantastic to see this excellent community resource refurbished and developed as a Community Hub. From children’s classes to coffee sessions there’s plenty on offer for everyone and it will be a great asset to local residents.”
