Wizards defeat is reality check

WARRINGTON Wizards’ Graham Healey says his side’s loss to Huddersfield Underbank Rangers was a reality check for the squad.
Wizards fell to third place in Conference Three after a 40-10 defeat at home to Rangers, who overtook the Wizards ifor that important top two position in the league.
With the top two getting an easier passage into the Grand Final via the play offs, a win over Rangers could have stretched Wizards’ advantage to five points.
But Healey felt the defeat to Huddersfield showed how far behind the top two sides Wizards actually are.
He said: “It showed where we are, and showed we are not as good as we think we are. Huddersfield played well and blew us away in the first 15 to 20 minutes, and it was always up hill from there.
“They were a lot more enthusiastic than us and we just did everything wrong really. We lost the play the ball in defence, missed tackles and made mistakes in attack that absolutely cost us.
“James Rosson really manned up and put a shift in, but the rest of us left a lot to be desired. Paul Reynolds put his hand up as well, he was brilliant today.”
Wizards face Bramley Buffaloes on Saturday, August 4 at Wilderspool Stadium kicking off at 2.30pm.
The Wizards defeated Bramley at the Arthur Miller Stadium 32-22 earlier this season, after being held up on the coach for three hours due to bad traffic. But Healey expects his side to bounce back, after what he anticipates will be a hard week in training.
He said: “We need to really stick it to Bramley on Saturday. Last time we had bad preparation and we were slow to start there, but we toughed it out and won down there.
“We are expecting another tough game, and hopefully we can take the win and keep pushing to try and take the top two spots.”
Admission for the match against Bramley is £3 for adults, £1 for concessions.
