WARRINGTON Wizards Head Coach Nick Owen has stepped down from his position with immediate effect due to work and family commitments.
Owen, who has been in charge since the beginning of this campaign and leaves with the club in third place in the league table, will be replaced as head coach by Mike Grady who will work very closely alongside player-coach Paul Alcock.
Wizards Team Manager Nikki Whalley said, “We would like to thank Nick for all his efforts during his time as our head coach and whilst it is a shame that he has had to step down we fully understand his reasons and would like to wish him well for the future; he will always be welcome down at the club.
“We have moved very swiftly to appoint his successor and are delighted that Mike Grady and Paul Alcock will take charge from now on. Mike, who has been Assistant Coach at the club for the past three years, including when we won the Grand Final in 2010, will become Head Coach whilst Paul, who joined the coaching set up this year, will be player-coach.
“They will work very closely together to try and ensure that we have a successful end to the current campaign. We have a very talented squad at the club and I am sure they will all get fully behind our new set up.”
Grady and Alcock’s first official game in charge will be this coming Saturday, August 4th when the Wizards entertain Bramley Buffaloes at Wilderspool Stadium, kick off 2.30pm. Admission is £3 for adults, and £1 for concessions.
