Reading challenge for children

0

CHILDREN across Warrington are invited to sign up to for the national Summer Reading Challenge for free at their local library.
The Summer Reading Challenge is the UK’s biggest national reading initiative and runs in libraries nation-wide throughout the summer holidays, with incentives, activities and events designed to create a real buzz around children’s reading and improving literacy. The challenge is simple – to read six or more library books over the summer.
Stickers, book marks, wristbands, bugs, glow sticks and medals can be won as children progress throughout the summer.
This year’s challenge is called “Story Lab” – a fictional adventure story which the children can join in with online where they create their own reading profile.
Youth volunteers will be available to help youngsters register at Birchwood or Padgate library on selected dates but all LiveWire libraries will be offering an opportunity to sign up.
There will also be related craft and activity sessions at Burtonwood, Birchwood, Padgate, and Penketh. More details can be found at www.livewirewarrington.co.uk
Visit www.story-lab.org.uk/join-in for information about signing up to the challenge.
