POLICE this afternoon appealed for help from the public following a robbery at a shop in Warrington.
The raid was last night (Tuesday) at McColl’s convenience store in Concorde Place, off Poplars Avenue, Orford.
At around 9.20pm two men entered the store and forced two female customers and a shop assistant into the rear office, ordering them to sit on the floor with their hands on their heads.
One of the men stayed with the three women while the other man demanded money from the female manager of the shop, who was also inside the premises at the time.
The two men then stole a quantity of cash before fleeing the scene via the front entrance of the shop.
Officers are currently following up a number of lines of enquiry including house-to-house enquiries and CCTV footage.
DC Nat Lewis, who is investigating the incident, said: “Fortunately, no-one was injured during the incident but the staff and customers were understandably left very shaken by their ordeal.
“We are appealing to anyone who has any information, which might assist with our enquiries, or anyone who has any information regarding the identity of the offenders to come forward.
“The two men ran from the shop and it is believed that they used the alleyway between the McColls Store and Concorde Best Co Shop towards the Grasmere Avenue estate.”
The first offender is described as aout 5ft 7 inches tall and of broad build. He was wearing a black hooded North Face jacket, black bottoms and black shoes. He had a light coloured face covering over his mouth and nose and was wearing white and blue gloves.
The second offender was around 5ft 10 inches tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black top with a grey hood and front pocket, black bottoms and black shoes. The man also had a light coloured face covering over his mouth and nose and was wearing white and blue coloured gloves.
Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
