MARKET traders at Warrington got into the spirit of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the national “Love your Local Market” campaign by taking part in a best-dressed stall competition.
The public got to decide the winner and after 11 days of voting, and with just under 2,000 votes cast, Sweeney’s Butchers scooped the title with 709 votes.
Second place went to Yates Greer and third place was awarded to The Corner Coffee Bar.
Cllr Mike Hannon, Warrington Borough Council’s executive member for the town centre, said: “It was really uplifting to see so many traders taking part in the jubilee fun by decorating their stalls.
“There were some very innovative ideas creating a great talking point for both traders and customers. Congratulations to everyone at Sweeney’s Butchers and thank you to so many customers for taking part.”
All 2,000 votes have been entered into a free prize draw to win one of 30 prizes donated by stalls in the market.
The list of prize winners is displayed at the market customer information desk.
