Wizards defeat Outlaws

WARRINGTON Wizards assistant coach Paul Alcock was delighted to get the win at Nottingham Outlaws against a side with a strong home record.
The Outlaws were undefeated at the Harvey Hadden Stadium this season until the Wizards went onto complete a 32-16 win on Saturday, invading the Outlaws’ fortress and coming home with all three league points.
But despite getting an important victory, Alcock admitted his side were not at their best but still deserved the win.
He said: “The game on the whole was a little scrappy but I thought we were very worth winners. We made hard work of it at times but you have to give Nottingham credit for the way that they battled for the full eighty minutes.
“They had won all of their previous four home fixtures this season so for us to come away with a win is great for us. Our defence was strong today as it has been for most of the season and we scored some eye-catching tries although with a little more composure we could have had a few more.
Alcock himself grabbed a hat trick, his first in an experienced career. However he was modest in his achievement, preferring to pay credit to his team mates who ensured the Wizards came away with the win.
He said: “There were some mammoth efforts from the boys down the middle especially from Christian Froggatt and Paul Reynolds and that was backed up by some great work by Warren Ayres and Hayden James.
“James Rosson has yet again produced an outstanding display on the wing and he now has five tries in four appearances having scored in every match that he has played.”
Wizards are at home to Coventry Bear on Saturday, July 7 at Wilderspool Stadium. Kick off is 2.30pm, and admission is FREE to all Super League, Championship and Championship 1 seasons ticket holders.
