A CHARITY providing care and support for children with life-threatening conditions has been given a £10,000 boost from Appleton-based Flextronics Global Services and Software (FGSS).
The firm, which employs around 250 people, held a “Dragon’s Den” style competition for staff, inviting them to give a presentation about a charity close to their heart and how the company’s support could help it further its work in the local community.
Rob Lawrie, who has worked at FGSS for two-and-a-half years, won the £10,000 prize for the Shannon Bradshaw Trust – a Warrington-based charity which helps children with life-threatening conditions and their families.
He said: “Through the competition, I was given the chance to raise awareness of a local charity and I’m over the moon to have won the donation for the Shannon Bradshaw Trust.
“The charity’s founders, Alan and Patti Bradshaw, set up the charity after their daughter Shannon passed away in 2002 and they now devote much of their time to helping other families in similar situations with children who are seriously ill. I’m just so pleased that I could do something to help them continue their amazing work.”
Patti Bradshaw said: “We’re so grateful to Rob and to FGSS for this donation.
“We’re only a small charity with about 15 volunteers so this will make a huge contribution to our fundraising efforts and allow us to continue providing support, care and equipment to families across the North West and beyond.”
