Caring support for carers

CARERS in Warrington are being encouraged to attend a number of events aimed at providing them with useful advice and support.
Wired Adults and Young Carers Service Warrington, who provide a range of services for carers across the town on behalf of the borough council and Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group, have organised a number of events for carers as part of Carers Week, which starts on Monday, June 18.
The theme is “in sickness and in health” and the focus is on how the caring role impacts on carers’ own health and wellbeing.
On Monday there is a carers’ service at Bold Street Methodist Church at 1pm.
Thursday will see an information stall at Sainsbury’s from 11am to 2pm and on Friday there will be an open day at Wired – The Bungalow, Garven Place – for adult carers.
Information will be available from Access Social Care and Long Lane Garden Project. There are refreshments and a craft and jewellery stall from 10am-2pm.
On Saturday, June 23, there will be an open day at Wired for young carers. Information about local services will be available from the Youth Service, plus refreshments, face painting and a chocolate fountain, 10am-1pm
The council and Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group are also hosting the annual carers conference on Wednesday June 20
Cllr Pat Wright, the council’s executive member for health, wellbeing and adult services, said: “We are committed to providing continuous help and support to local carers and that’s why events like these are so important. As well as pledging our support, we want carers to know how valued they are and let them know additional help is there should they need it.”
More information about these events, and support for carers, is available from Wired on 01925 644212.
