Planners put off sign decision

COUNCILLORS at Warrington have put off a decision on a controversial sign outside a beauty salon for a second time.
Members of the borough council’s planning committee want officers to have further talks with the applicants before they finally make up their minds.
They have already visited Uber Beauty, in London Road, Stockton Heath to inspect the sign which has been erected without permission.
Stockton Heath Parish Council has objected to a retrospective application for permission to erect the sign on the grounds it is overbearing on the street scene, could distract motorists and pedestrians and also set a precedent for more similar signs.
A plan to use the former house as a beauty salon was approved retrospectively last year.
Planning officers are recommending the sign be approved and say they can see no detrimental impact on visual amenity, public or highway safety.

  1. Overbearing? Distracting to pedestrians ?? If it’s the little 2ft square sign they are on about I can’t see what the fuss is about. I drive past there most days and until it was reported on here I’d never even noticed it. I doubt it would distract motorists either even it it is lit up at night as drivers seem to cope with all the other bright shop fronts, takeaways and pubs in Stockton Heath at night.
