Celebrating community volunteers

NATIONAL Volunteers’ Week is underway, celebrating the fantastic contribution that millions of people make to their communities.
Warrington Conservative Future (WCF) is supporting the venture.
Every year, more than 20 million people across the UK volunteer, donating more than 100 million hours to their communities every week.
It has been estimated that the economic value of this activity is worth in excess of £40 billion to the economy.
Services helped or run by volunteers include the NHS, the Coastguard Rescue Service, the Mountain and Cave Rescue Service, Natural England, the judiciary, and the police.
WCF chairman Jonathan Levy said: “Volunteering is a great way of getting involved and making a difference in the community. The work of volunteers often goes unnoticed and that is why National Volunteers Week is a great way to recognise and celebrate the work of those who are helping to improve our society.
“People should think seriously about volunteering. It gives them the chance to develop new skills and give something back to their community.”
