Housing chiefs join in the party spirit

RESIDENTS across Warrington are helping to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee with a series of parties – thanks to funding from Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT).
The Trust has provided £1,000 in funding to help support 10 events taking placee between May 28 and June 5.
The events supported by GGHT included a picnic in the park at Culcheth Village Green with young people taking part in a talent competition, a traditional style “street party” for 50 local families in Longford, a Jubilee celebration for 285 residents at Ryfields Retirement Village and a special celebration and three course meal for 200 local residents in Whitecross.
Peter Mercer, Trust chief executive, said: “It has been great to get out and meet with so many of our tenants and residents as they have enjoyed their Diamond Jubilee parties.
“As a Trust we are passionate about engaging with our tenants and bringing them together to tackle the issues that matter to them in their local communities. We set up our fund as we felt the Diamond Jubilee parties would be a great way to encourage people to get out, meet their neighbours and stoke community spirit and we received a large number of fantastic applications.
“After careful deliberation we selected 10 events to support across Warrington, ranging from picnics in the park to special celebrations bringing together up to 285 local residents in community venues.”
The Diamond Jubilee parties have helped to kick start what will be a busy Summer of events for GGHT. Over the next few months they will be organising an Olympic themed Fun Day at Poole Park in Longford, supporting a community Children’s Day in Howley and helping to organise a Mela in Warrington Town Centre.

  1. Can I assume they have carried out every single repair needed, every single improvement needed – or have they got tenants still waiting for work to be carried out while they spend funds on jelly and cake?
