Nursery plan causes uproar

A PLAN to restore a former nursery to horticultural use near Warrington has caused a storm of protest.
The scheme – submitted by Lymm Road Properties Ltd – involves the former Caddicks Clematis Nursery, in Lymm Road, Thelwall.
Objections have been received from nearby property owners and by Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council.
A report to be considered by the borough council’s planning committee indicates a length history.
Proposals include removing a brick building, erection of a tractor store and workshop and retention of a timber cabin for use as offices and toilets
But similar proposals, involving importing of materials onto the site, were refused because of the raising of land levels, unacceptable impact on the Green Belt, and because of flood risks.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved because it offers a solution to existing problems on the site, including continued removal of materials imported on to the site without authority.
