DENSE smoke drifted across Warrington town centre after fire broke out at an electricity sub-station.
Fire crews raced to the scene, off Church Street, Howley on Friday evening.
They were faced with a well-developed fire but quickly had it under control. There was no damage to other property.
But rush-hour traffic was disrupted by the smoke.
