A knitter's dream come true!

IT was a knitter’s dream come true…an Aladdin’s Cave of wool, yarn and other knitting essentials – all in a garage in Warrington.
It came to light after Annie Cabais sadly died at her home in Great Sankey.
Annie was a Warrington girl who married an American and went to live in Hawaii, settling in Honolulu where she ran a successful knitting school for Sears Roebuck.
After her husband died she moved back to Great Sankey.
But her two daughters remained in the United States.
One, Maureen, came back to Warrington on Annie’s death – and discovered the huge stash of yarn in the garage.
She got in touch with the Knit and Natter knitting group, who meet at Friars Green Independent Methodist Church.
They were overwhelmed by the quantity of wool, which virtually filled the garage.
There was so much, even the knitting group would have taken years to use it!
But something had to be done – and eventually it was agreed it should be sold, with the money split between Maureen and the knitting group.
Now a coffee morning has been arranged at Friars Green Church, in Cairo Street on Saturday, June 9 at 10am when the yarn, patterns, needles, etc will be offered for sale and there will be a display of work done by the knitting group.
