Barn plan triggers objections

A PLAN for a crop storage barn on farmland in the Green Belt near Warrington has triggered objections from nearby residents.
It is the second time proposals have been put forward for the site at Ten Acre Field, off Cuerdley Road, Penketh.
The first scheme – involving three barns – was withdrawn following vigorous opposition.
But the new plan, involving just one barn, is also being opposed by neighbours and Penketh Parish Council.
They claim the development would damage the Green Belt, the open aspect and wildlife and also express concern there would be a potential for the building to later be converted to a house.
Planning officers will recommend the scheme be approved when it goes before the borough council’s planning committee next week.
They say there were valid concerns over the original plan for three barns but that the new scheme is appropriate for the site.
The building would not readily be suitable for conversion for residential use.
