THE country looks set to turn red, white and blue this summer – in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
To mark the occasion Warrington Museum has put together two exhibitions and an event based on the theme “60 and counting.”
Already running is an exhibition to mark the Jubilee, with a rich display of objects, memories, historical events and trivia from the last six decades. It continues until June 16.
From May 12 to June 23, “Take us back to the Sixties” will be a bright and colourful exhibition of paintings, maps, photographs, interviews and fashion created by a group of young volunteers in association with the Volunteer Centre in Warrington.
On May 26, “Celebrating Warrington” will be a free event for local history enthusiasts from 10.30am to 3pm – ideal for those wishing to meet a group of like-minded history enthusiasts or for anyone needing assistance with a personal research project. Warrington Library will be joining in the event, together with organisations such as local history groups from Bewsey, Grappenhall, Lymm and Penketh as well as Warrington’s family history, archaeological and historical societies and the Cheshire County Record Office.
