Families launch appeal for funding

A group of Warrington families are launching a special appeal to help raise £18,000 to fund specialist therapy for their six disabled children and other children with similar conditions in the area.
The youngsters, who have all been diagnosed with different conditions ranging from Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Delay to Epilepsy have been attending life changing therapy at The Legacy Rainbow House in Mawdesley.
They travel to attend these services and have been attending for over five years, due to having no access to this kind of service in the Warrington area.
Due to a leap in demand for the charity’s specialist expertise it must raise additional funds to ensure the continuation of the services. Each current visiting family has therefore been asked to raise £3,000 to help the charity’s fundraising team increase support in the communities where they are located.
The appeal is off to an encouraging start after the Asda Cockhedge store has chosen to support the children through a variety of fundraising events, which has so far included a Valentine’s Day Raffle, bag packing for donations, book and tabletop sales and a charity football match which is to take place on Sunday, May 6 at the Bank Quay Social Club, Warrington, 6-8pm.
Helen Wellock, People Service Manager at Asda Cockhedge store commented:”Helping local communities is a priority for our business and we are especially proud to be supporting The Legacy Rainbow House. It is an honour for all of us here at ASDA Cockhedge to be able to make a real difference to these local children and their families who are our customers too.”
Hayley Scholes, Development Manager at The Legacy Rainbow House commented: “On behalf of all the Warrington parents and The Legacy Rainbow House I would like to say thank you so much to Asda Cockhedge store for supporting the Warrington children that attend our services, they are so enthusiastic and such a good team they truly go by their motto “Happy to help!”. They have already done quite a lot of fundraising and will continue to do so, so please support them in any way you can.”
