Council wants to borrow fountain

LYMM Parish Council hopes to “borrow” a floodlit, floating fountain to help celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The fountain would be floated in the Lower Dam for the Jubilee weekend and, provided it was acceptable to local residents, would become a permanent feature afterwards.
The idea of a floating fountain for the Lower Dam originally came from Deputy Lieutenant of Cheshire Geoff Hawley – a local resident.
He said the fountain would cost less than £2,000, would have no adverse environmental impact on the ecology of the Dam and could be moved out of the way for events such as the annual Duck Race or for maintenance.
But a number of residents have subsequently expressed concern that the feature may have an unacceptable impact on the immediate area.
The council is hoping arrangements can be made to borrow a fountain so residents can see the impact.
