Season ends in defeat for Town

WARRINGTON Town’s season ended with a 5-1 defeat at play off chasing Lancaster City as manager Shaun Reid blooded a number of youth players in the final game of the season.
With only a handful of first teamers in the squad Warrington’s inexperienced defence was cruelly exposed in the opening 10 minutes as they found themselves chasing the game following goals by Alex Kenyon (6) and Daniel Gregson (9).
It was pretty much game over when Alex Kenyon made it 3-0 five minutes before the break as the home side sought a four foal advantage for any chance of making the play offs.
To their credit Warrington’s youngsters improved after the break and pulled a goal back through Dylan Glass on 47 minutes as he headed home from a corner.
Town created a couple more chances before Lancaster finished the stronger with goals from Zach Clark (73) and an own goal by Michael Reid on 80.
But Lancaster’s efforts were in vain as Garforth secured 5th spot with a 2-1 victory over Skelmersdale – much to the delight of the travelling Town fans.
Warrington ended up in 11th position as Durham and Bamber Bridge both recorded victories to leap frog them.

Pictures show the travelling Warrington fans remaining in high spirits on the final day of the season, Ged Kinsella taking on the Lancaster defence and young Dylan Glass heading home from a corner, hopefully a sign of better things to come.
